Easter Baskets for Dieters and Women
The classic Easter basket is full of sweets and sugar – a chocolate bunny here, some jelly beans there. But what about the dieters in your life? A diet shouldn’t have to destroy someone’s Easter basket. If someone you love is trying to shed a few pounds, here are some great ideas for helping them celebrate the holiday in a healthy way.
Healthy yet still indulgent treats are easier to find than ever! Think about sugar-free chocolate or candy if you’re buying for a diabetic, or someone watching their blood sugar. For folks managing portion control, there are many brand name chocolatiers now offering 100-calorie servings. And don’t forget that dark chocolate is loaded full of anti-oxidants, so you can tuck in a small piece – the key is to make it 70% cocoa or higher, and to keep the portion small, around an ounce or so. That way, your loved one can enjoy a bit of decadence without the remorse the next day.
Of course, if you’re not sure of someone’s dietary restrictions, you can bypass the food altogether. A beautiful selection of flowering pots might be a great selection for your basket instead. Amaryllis, for example, is seasonally appropriate, and can come in a variety of colors to match your decorating scheme. Or consider stashing a gift certificate for a spa into your gift basket for women– the gift of relaxation is always well-received!
